Just being in the Tracy's presence, by phone or in person, I feel her vibrant, kind and optimistic sparkle. Tracy and the Maha Soul were amazing hosts, wonderfully supportive and fully receptive to living and learning the yogic practices of yoga, Ayurveda, breathing, philosophy, and more. ![]() Ken Busto - yes, this is my "little brother". To know someone almost all your life is a gift and privilege. Growing through life side by side, sometimes sideways and sometimes apart, you get to be the observer and be observed. I've journeyed through life with Ken with patience, admiration, appreciation and gratitude, and I am honored to call him brother, friend, teacher, mentor, counselor, and healing practitioner. In all these capacities, Ken consistently reflects brilliance, strength, wit, introspection, insight and humility. This is what makes Ken an amazing acupuncturist and natural healthcare professional. Ken and his wife, Nicole, reside in Maui, Hawaii where they both serve the community in natural healthcare. Ken's acupuncture practice is call Acupono, and if you're in Maui and ready for some self-care and healing, set up an appointment. What is Acupono? Brilliant and funny lead to the creation of Acupono. When I asked Ken what does Acupono mean, he said it is "Just a portmanteau combining acupuncture and Pono. I needed to register a business name, and that’s what I came up with." This humble and curious response led me to inquire about the meaning of Pono. "Pono is the state of existence that is characterized by integrity and a feeling of contentment when everything is good and right." (https://www.alohashirtshop.com/hawaiian-lifestyle/pono-meaning). What is it about Acupono? I really admire the lineage, dedication, and continuous learning that Ken invests into his practice. Ken began his exploration of Chinese medicine over twenty years ago through the study of internal martial arts and qigong. These pursuits led him to China, where he trained at the Wudang and Shaolin Temples, as well as with lineage holders in Beijing. He holds a Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University, where he also earned medical specialty certificates in Integrative Sports Medicine and Tuina (Chinese medical massage). Ken then went on to become licensed in California and Hawaii, and to attain status as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine through The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Five Branches University. Ken's aligns his personal practice with his professional practice. He practices the disciplines of healing the body, mind and soul. There is true healing that takes place when working with Ken because that is his dharma. What services does Acupono offer? Primary modality is acupuncture, which may be augmented with other tools of Chinese medicine: • Moxibustion • Cupping • Gua sha • Auricular acupuncture, Ear seeds/tacks • Tuina, including Yang tuina, Yin tuina, Qigong tuina, and Pediatric tuina • Dietary & Herbal recommendations • And more What am I thankful for Ken Busto of Acupono? Ken has been an integral part of the Maui In Body Mind Soul retreats. He provides education, treatment and fun to the retreat. AND of course I am thankful for his friendship, his ability to hold space for my growth and healing, his talent to make me laugh, his love and his aloha spirit.
