Santosha in Sanskrit means Contentment, and that IS EXACTLY what Santosha School in Indianapolis, Indiana has given to me.
My first discovered Santosha after I attended a meditation retreat in Sedona, AZ. During that retreat, I was introduced to Ayurveda, and I quickly consumed the knowledge shared in Ayurveda: The Science of Self Healing by Dr. Vasant Lad. Before the completion of the retreat, I searched up Ayurveda in Indianapolis, and Santosha School was the end to my search. What/Who is Santosha School? "Santosha is a natural health care center with classes in yoga, breathing & meditation, massage, Ayurveda, & more. We offer massage, private yoga instruction, Ayurveda therapies, and thorough yoga teacher training programs that emphasize a teaching practicum of 40 classes taught on site. ACCESSIBLE: classes for every body, age, & economics COMMUNITY ORIENTED: students get to know each other & teachers. DIVERSE: our staff, student body, teaching locations are all international. INSTRUCTIVE: consistent tools for you to explore appropriate movement pace & capacity SPIRITUALLY ORIENTED: a safe space for spiritual connection. I’ve met amazing students and teachers that come to Santosha wanting high quality yoga, meaningful connections, Holistic healthcare approaches, diversity, spiritual exploration and deep personal development. I’ve had the pleasure of working with all the teachers and teacher trainees in some capacity, and I am inspired to see women and men of all ages and backgrounds become empowered as teachers and human beings. I’ve people LITERALLY break through their “shells”, find their center and discover meaning in their lives. What does Santosha School have to offer? "We offer weekend workshops and 1 year courses to change your diet and lifestyle using the gardening healthcare system, Ayurveda. Santosha services include massage, personal training in yoga , Ayurveda body care therapies, and Ayurveda health consultations. Santosha offers Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher training programs, which emphasize on the job training - teaching practicums of 40 classes taught on site." What am I thankful to Santosha School? Santosha School is more than a school or a yoga studio. It is a place for community, comfort and discovery. In any self-development, self-discovery, self-improvement, self-reflection, self-inquiry process, I need a place to feel safe, supported and nurtured, and Santosha has been that for me. I literally feel contentment when I walk in the doors of the school. When I sit at the altar to meditate, the feeling of something bigger than myself, something peaceful within and something meaningful is palpable. One of the sayings from their website says "Santosha means contentment. Find it here. Learn to keep hold of it everywhere.", and for that I am grateful.
